Comparing Friedrich Neitzsche, A German Philosopher Essay

Most people have a hard time figuring out how they find meaning in life. Do we look beyond life to find fulfillment, or do we look within life to find its meaning? Society suggests that we are supposed to grow up and discover what is considered to be our purpose in life and what ways it can be found. Some people believe that the meaning in life is only found through God. They believe that nothing in life is meaningful, only what happens in the afterlife is what really matters. Other people, like myself, look within life to find its meaning. I believe that every person should live life to the fullest and to the best to their ability. We should live by creating our own happiness. By creating our own identity and living the way we want to live, we will have enjoyment and pleasure in life. Friedrich Neitzsche, a German philosopher, rejects the idea of asceticism, which is self-denial to live for something greater. He says that we don’t deny the self, but that we do the opposite by seeking pleasure and happiness. We pursue things internally and we should not live like this but still look outside of life to find meaning. We should do this by rejecting morality, because others give morality to us (parents, religion, society, etc.). Because this defines us, as others want us to be, rigidity of morality sometimes causes us to be immoral.
